Yusuke“The new CÉLINE, with Hedi Slimane as Artistic, Creative, and Image Director, launched this spring. I just saw the upcoming Autumn/Winter men's collection presented in Paris in January, and it was truly fantastic, from the model casting to the show's direction. It was an exceptionally high-quality collection.

This time, I've focused on outerwear from the first collection. When you actually wear the items, you notice a change in the silhouette. While the sleeves remain slim as before, there's more room added to the body. In an era where loose silhouettes and dropped shoulders are mainstream, I think this balance is quite new.

Looking back at his work for Saint Laurent and Dior Homme, and even further back to Saint Laurent Jeans, I can see that his worldview hasn't changed at all, and this new CÉLINE men's collection is very much his creation. Take this leopard-print coat, for example: despite the wild motif, it exudes a refined elegance and an intelligent aura, which is a testament to his skill.

About 20 years ago, when I interviewed him, he mentioned that his collections sequentially explore five universal themes. I feel that this philosophy is also present in his expression for CÉLINE's men's collection. I look forward to continuing to follow Hedi's creations as he stays true to the brand's essence while asserting his own unique style.”
