Isabelle Huppert, a muse who has led the French film industry from the Nouvelle Vague era to the present day. 'Fou d'amour,' in which she passionately portrays an "ordinary housewife," will be released on April 4th (Saturday) at Kadokawa Cinema Yurakucho andYEBISU GARDEN CINEMAand other theaters nationwide.

A hit at last year's French Film Festival, now opening to the public


'Fou d'amour' follows Brigitte, an ordinary housewife played by Isabelle Huppert, as she is torn between three men: a handsome young man, a foreign gentleman, and her husband. The film, which portrays the lives of a middle-aged couple with a warm gaze, was a hit at last year's French Film Festival in Tokyo and is now opening to the public.

The director is Marc Fitoussi, for whom this is his fourth feature film. He also wrote the screenplay for this work. The lead actress, Isabelle Huppert, has a wide-ranging career in French cinema and Hollywood. In recent years, she has also appeared in films by Hong Sang-soo, such as'In Another Country'demonstrating her gravitas as a great actress. In contrast, she plays Brigitte, a seemingly ordinary housewife, in this film, masterfully embodying the shifting emotions of a woman.

Opposite Huppert is the indispensable veteran actor Jean-Pierre Darroussin, known for his understated charm. The sophisticated foreigner to whom Brigitte is drawn is played by the popular Swedish actor Mikael Nyqvist. The role of the handsome young man is played by Pio Marmaï, who is rapidly gaining popularity in France.

Normandy, a region in northeastern France known for its butter and cheese. Xavier and Brigitte, who run a livestock farm, married after a youthful romance, but now their children have left home and they are in a rut.

One day, Brigitte meets a handsome young man, a friend of her niece visiting from Paris, and for the first time in a long time, her feminine heart is stirred. He invites her to "come by the boutique where I work if you visit Paris," and she finds herself drawn to him. Tempted by the irresistible allure of Paris and a potential affair, she devises a daring plan.




This is the small adventure of one woman, unfolding in a place far from her everyday life. We invite you to enjoy Brigitte's holiday alongside the beautiful Parisian scenery featured in the film, including Montmartre and the Musée d'Orsay.
