65mm Longer, 10mm Wider Body
Since its debut as the "190 Class" in 1982, the C-Class has consistently set the benchmark for its segment in all aspects, including performance, comfort, and safety. The previous generation C-Class, sold from 2014, has sold over 100,000 units in Japan across sedan and station wagon models, achieving segment number one for five consecutive years from 2015 to 2019, and winning numerous awards.
The newly redesigned C-Class incorporates numerous new technologies inherited from the flagship S-Class. While adopting elements from the new S-Class in its exterior and interior design, it also expresses the sporty character of the C-Class throughout, with all model lines electrified.
The exterior features a dynamic design that appears to be in motion, achieved through a combination of a short front overhang, long wheelbase, and a short rear overhang. The sporty hood with power domes further emphasizes this forward-driving impulse. By positioning the windscreen and cabin far back, it achieves a traditional yet sporty proportion characteristic of the C-Class. While the width has only increased by 10mm compared to the previous model, the overall length has been extended by 65mm, creating a more elongated silhouette.
Furthermore, based on the design philosophy of "Sensual Purity," lines and edges have been significantly reduced. A single character line, named the "Catwalk Line," runs from the front to the rear along the shoulder, near the bottom edge of the side windows, creating an effect that makes the car appear lower and sleeker.
The front headlights are a cool, sharp design, thinner vertically than the previous generation, inherited from the new S-Class. The three-pointed star, conveying a sporty impression, is positioned in the center of the gently polygonal radiator grille.
The rear end features distinctive two-part, horizontally elongated triangular rear combination lamps, inherited from the new S-Class, designed to appear wider and sharper.
The Cd values are 0.24 for the sedan and 0.27 for the station wagon, reflecting a pursuit of fuel efficiency.
