Equipment and Settings Tailored for Japanese Road Conditions

The Japanese specification for the third-generation LEAF, which had its world premiere this June, has now been announced.
The LEAF has been completely redesigned into a crossover style, with meticulous attention paid to aerodynamic performance, from its fastback silhouette and aerodynamically designed wheels to its power-retractable exterior door handles and flat floor. This has resulted in a class-leading drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.26.
The exterior design, with its signature front lamps and single-line center LED accent lamp, makes the LEAF instantly recognizable. The rear also features 3D hologram LED combination lamps, enhancing its futuristic appeal.
The interior benefits from the CMF-EV platform, creating a flatter floor, a more open footwell, and a practical luggage space.
The interior exudes a calm, minimalist atmosphere. It features Nissan's first dimmable panoramic glass roof, which can adjust its transparency with a single button and offers heat shielding, providing a comfortable cabin environment year-round, according to Nissan.
The powertrain has been newly developed, employing a 3-in-1 structure that integrates the motor, inverter, and reduction gear. While reducing unit capacity by 10% compared to the previous model, the maximum torque of the motor has been increased by 4%.
Furthermore, the adoption of a split skew rotor, where the rotor is divided into multiple parts and offset diagonally, along with a highly rigid housing and motor mount bracket, reduces vibration. This contributes to a smoother ride and enhanced quietness.
The rear suspension is a multi-link type, specifically tuned for Japanese road conditions, ensuring a flat ride across all scenarios, from city streets to highways.
The LEAF B7 is equipped with a 78 kWh battery, offering a maximum driving range of 702 km. This is made possible by a new energy management system that centrally controls the thermal systems of the entire vehicle, integrating the cooling and heating for the air conditioning, battery, motor, and onboard charger to maximize the effective use of heat generated within the car.
The vehicle supports rapid charging up to 150 kW, which can restore the charge from 10% to 80% in just 35 minutes.
It also supports external power supply. Using the "AC External Power Supply Connector," you can draw 1,500W of power even with the doors locked, making it useful for outdoor activities and as an emergency power source during disasters. Additionally, two 100V AC power outlets (1,500W) are installed in the cabin and luggage compartment.
To further enhance the EV lifestyle, the interior features a large 12.3-inch dual display equipped with the "NissanConnect Infotainment System," compatible with "Google Maps," "Google Assistant," and "Google Play." "Google Maps" can display routes that predict charging station locations.
The safety equipment includes many features exclusive to Japan, such as "ProPILOT 2.0," which enables hands-off driving on expressways to reduce fatigue on long journeys, and "ProPILOT Parking" to assist with smooth parking.
The LEAF B7, equipped with a 78 kWh battery, is available in two grades: "G" and "X." The price for the "G" is ¥5,999,400, and for the "X" is ¥5,188,700. A model with a 55 kWh battery is also scheduled to be announced around February 2026.
