A Phantom-Based EV

The EV under development by Rolls-Royce is based on the flagship Phantom model. The company states that it will gather opinions and reactions to this 102EX, also known as the "Phantom Experimental Electric," to carefully consider the future direction of Rolls-Royce vehicles. Following the show, a global tour will commence, visiting Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America. It will be made available for test drives by select customers and media.

While there are currently no plans for commercial production, given that the 100EX and 101EX eventually became production models, this should be viewed not merely as a concept car, but as a new development for Rolls-Royce vehicles.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, stated, "The 102EX is the world's first battery-electric vehicle in the ultra-luxury segment. Using this test vehicle, we will explore the possibilities of alternative drivetrains and seek the optimal power source for future Rolls-Royce cars."

Topics surrounding the 102EX, such as its range per charge and performance under all harsh weather conditions, are emerging. A key objective of this project is to address these issues and enhance trust and quality, measured against the standards of the world's premier automotive brand.

Regarding this matter, Torsten Müller-Ötvös commented, "Whatever drivetrain we choose in the future, it must correctly carry forward the tradition of Rolls-Royce. It must be worthy of our customers and the Rolls-Royce brand, and it must be a foundational technology for a sustainable future."

In terms of the exceptional quietness characteristic of Rolls-Royce, electrification may be one of the best options. However, in reality, Rolls-Royce customers include desert royalty and tycoons who traverse continents. Creating an EV that all of them would accept as a "Rolls-Royce" presents a formidable challenge. Nevertheless, developing an EV model holds significant meaning for the future of automobiles.

Furthermore, ahead of the 102EX's unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars launched a website on February 21st to gather opinions from media and VIPs worldwide regarding the concept of electric vehicles in the ultra-luxury segment.www.electricluxury.comThe company also plans to regularly update this site with the latest information regarding the 102EX's global tour.
