Renault's New Face
As previously reported, the third-generation Megane has received a minor change, adopting Renault's new corporate front mask. Design-wise, the prominent feature is the large Renault corporate badge, with black horizontal lines extending to either side and connecting to the headlights, in line with recent Renault design trends. Additionally, the bumper shape and the LED daytime running lights on the outer edges of the bumper have also been redesigned.
R.S. Based on a Special Edition
The "Megane Renault Sport," developed by Renault Sport, will be based on the limited edition "Megane R.S. Red Bull Racing RB8" released in May of this year. This includes standard equipment such as Recaro seats and the R-Link system, now in version 2.0.
This R-LINK version 2.0 records real-time vehicle data from approximately 15 sensors, including accelerator opening, torque output, and load status. This data can later be transferred to a PC via USB memory stick and analyzed using the "R.S. Replay" software, which allows for review of driving performance overlaid with various data and satellite imagery, including driving lines. Furthermore, it is possible to share this data through the recently opened Renault Sport Community.
Additionally, an optional R.S. Design Pack is available, featuring "Potenza RE050A" tires and 19-inch wheels, identical to those on the "Megane Trophy" which achieved the fastest lap for a front-wheel-drive production car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This pack also includes a red-painted front "F1 splitter" spoiler, lower door protectors on the body sides, and a rear spoiler.
The minor change version of the Megane is scheduled for sequential rollout into the European market starting from the first quarter of 2014.
