Carbon Body and Aluminum Chassis Bring Weight to 1,450kg

A legendary Renault car that was active in rallying in the 1980s is reborn as a BEV for the modern era.
The Renault "5 Turbo 3E," which had its world premiere, is a model that revives the "Renault 5 Turbo" and "Renault 5 Turbo 2," compact mid-ship models that made a name for themselves in rallying in 1980, as a 100% electric EV for the modern age.
The body dimensions of the European specification Renault 5 Turbo 3E are 4.08m long, 2.03m wide, and 1.38m high. By using a carbon body and a specially modified aluminum chassis, the vehicle weight is kept down to 1,450kg.
The powertrain features in-wheel motors on the left and right rear, generating a total of 540 hp, delivering a top speed of 270 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds.
It is equipped with a 70kW lithium-ion battery, offering a maximum range of 400 km in WLTP mode.
Production will be limited to 1,980 units worldwide, honoring the rally cars that competed in the 1980s. Renault Japon plans to introduce it to Japan, and anticipation is high for the announcement of sales figures and further details for the Japanese market.
