A Concept for a New Production EV
The "MITSUBISHI Concept CA-MiEV" is a concept car that proposes a new vision for electric vehicles, following Mitsubishi's launch of the production EV "i-MiEV" in 2009.
The EV system features a lightweight, integrated unit combining the motor, inverter, and charger to reduce electrical loss, along with a highly efficient full-cooperative regenerative braking system. The battery boasts a high energy density, achieving 28kWh, and combined with thorough body weight reduction and improved aerodynamic performance, it is expected to deliver a driving range of 300km.
While the "i-MiEV" measures 3,395mm in length, 1,475mm in width, and 1,610mm in height with a 16kWh battery and a 180km range, the "Concept CA-MiEV" is larger at 4,050mm long, 1,775mm wide, and 1,550mm high, with a 28kWh battery and a 300km range, significantly extending its travel distance.
Furthermore, considering the NissanLeaf's dimensions of 4,445mm length, 1,770mm width, and 1,550mm height, with a 24kWh battery and a 228km range, the "Concept CA-MiEV" appears to be a closer competitor to the Nissan "Leaf" than the "i-MiEV." Although this is a comparison between a concept car and a production vehicle, the "Concept CA-MiEV" offers a superior driving range.
It is equipped with remote control functions for air conditioning and charging/discharging management, which can be linked with smartphones and tablet devices, as well as
a remote tracking function that uses GPS to locate the vehicle in case of theft. It also supports ECO driving advice functions that adapt to the driving environment.
Next-Generation Compact Sedan for Global Markets Unveiled
The "Concept G4" is a concept model for a new generation of compact sedans that the company plans to introduce globally.
The vehicle features a collision-safety reinforced body, RISE, which actively incorporates high-tensile steel plates and claims to be the lightest in its class. This is combined with a lightweight and compact 1.2-liter MIVEC engine paired with a CVT featuring a sub-transmission.
Mitsubishi states that by setting a higher seating position and widening the door openings, the vehicle facilitates smooth entry and exit. It also offers a spacious interior with ample rear legroom, excellent forward visibility, and ease of maneuverability, proposing a new styling for the next-generation compact sedan.
In addition to these concept cars, Mitsubishi Motors plans to exhibit a total of 10 vehicles, including the Outlander and Pajero.
