Moon Phases and Calendar Express the Maison's Heritage
Blancpain's new "Bathyscaphe Complete Calendar Moon Phase" is a dive watch that encapsulates traditional, advanced techniques within a new ceramic material. While possessing modern functionality, it is a timepiece that evokes the maison's history and aesthetic sensibilities.
Black Ceramic Creates a Modern Aura
The "Fifty Fathoms," launched in 1953, was the first professional dive watch. In 1956, the "Bathyscaphe," with a more urban design, was introduced, and dynamic models were subsequently added to the lineup. It has been a model supported by divers for many years.
The newly announced "Bathyscaphe Complete Calendar Moon Phase" is finished as a model that combines modern design and functionality while inheriting this tradition. The ceramic used in many parts is a new material created using the latest technology. It is robust, scratch-resistant, and lightweight, boasting a hardness approximately five times that of stainless steel.
The dial features a complete calendar with a moon phase. It is adorned in a beautiful blue that contrasts with the black ceramic, with a gradient achieved through a sunray finish. Its charm lies in its beauty that changes expression with the angle of light. The contrast with the case and bracelet accentuates each other's presence.
Various types of bracelets and straps are available, including ceramic bracelets, NATO straps, and sailcloth straps. Among these, the ceramic bracelet features the same black ceramic as the case.
The bracelet employs a patented link system connected by cam-shaped pins, offering durability and comfortable wear, finished to combine beauty with a pleasant feel on the wrist.
True to its dive watch heritage, it is equipped with a black ceramic bezel featuring a unidirectional rotating function. The grey Liquidmetal® and the sunray-finished blue create a profound impression.
The movement is the Caliber 6654.P4, which includes a moon phase function. This movement boasts a 72-hour power reserve thanks to its double barrel construction. Its high magnetic resistance, achieved by using a silicon balance spring, is another notable feature. Furthermore, its intricate mechanism can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back, offering a visual appreciation of the maison's tradition and technical prowess.
Throughout Blancpain's long history, the calendar function has been a testament to the maison's technical expertise. This is evident in the diverse range of calendar types offered, from week displays and simple date indications to annual and even perpetual calendars. In this regard, Blancpain can be considered an expert in calendars. The new "Bathyscaphe Moon Phase Complete Calendar" embodies the future of mechanical watches, skillfully combining tradition with new materials.
