The Fifty Fathoms, now with the value of a lifestyle watch.

BLANCPAIN | FIFTY FATHOMS TECH

A new collection featuring bold colors has arrived for Blancpain's signature dive watch collection, the Fifty Fathoms Tech. In addition to the traditional black, new models feature white and orange rubber straps, maintaining their functionality as professional tools while also offering the ease of use of lifestyle watches.

Since its creation in 1953, the Fifty Fathoms revolutionized the watch industry as the world's first modern dive watch. While honoring the tradition of being favored by professional divers, marine explorers, and underwater photographers, the Tech series aims to integrate with contemporary lifestyles.
The most notable feature of this model is the adoption of a new system that allows for strap changes in seconds without the need for tools. The rubber strap, integrated into the central lug, can be instantly swapped to match the wearer's style or intended use, balancing practicality and fashion.
The newly added orange color harmonizes with the watch's central seconds hand and the "TECH" logo on the dial, creating a cohesive design. Meanwhile, the white model offers a refreshing, summery impression, allowing for seasonal styling.
The performance of previous models is carried over, with the Grade 23 titanium case offering both lightness and high durability. Furthermore, 300m water resistance and a helium escape valve ensure suitability for professional diving. The unidirectional rotating ceramic bezel features 120 clicks, allowing for reliable operation even when wearing thick gloves.
The dial employs Absolute Black material, which absorbs 97% of light, ensuring excellent visibility in murky waters or low-light conditions. The contrast with the luminescent block-shaped applied indices demonstrates exceptional consideration for legibility.
The movement is the self-winding Caliber 1315A, offering a 120-hour power reserve with a frequency of 4Hz. The sapphire case back allows observation of the movement's exquisite finishing, providing a taste of Blancpain's high watchmaking expertise even in a practical timepiece.
The innovative strap system also caters to the needs of divers wearing wetsuits. With multiple strap lengths available, it flexibly adapts to various wearing scenarios, covering a wide range of situations from underwater exploration to casual urban wear with a single watch.
Marc A. Hayek, President and CEO of Blancpain, explains, "When we developed the Fifty Fathoms Tech Gombessa in 2023, it stemmed from the question: what would the Fifty Fathoms look like if it were invented today?" He further stated, "By incorporating color and style into the Tech series, we can demonstrate that even a true diver's watch has a lifestyle aspect."
This approach of blurring the lines between professional tool and lifestyle object is something only Blancpain, a brand beloved by professionals, could achieve.
