A "Simple Yet Mechanically Perfect Watch" for Every Generation

The watchmaker Moritz Grossmann (1826-1885), who lent his name to the brand, was a pivotal figure in the early days of watchmaking in Glashütte, Germany. Moritz Grossmann timepieces are crafted based on Grossmann's pure watchmaking philosophy of "simple yet mechanically perfect watches" and the brand's ethos to "unite simple elegance with innovation." Each stage, from design sketches to the creation of hands, initial assembly, and final assembly, is handled by the finest specialists, embodying a "true watchmaking" tradition that transcends generations.

In January 2015, Moritz Grossmann opened its first boutique worldwide in Koishikawa, Tokyo, coinciding with its debut in Japan. Housed in a former printing factory, the boutique offers an expansive, open space that defies the conventional image of a luxury watch store. As the brand's first global boutique, it is meticulously designed to express Moritz Grossmann's beliefs and philosophy, showcasing and selling the full range of the brand's collections.

The "Tefnut Japan Limited," released in March 2016, is a Japan-exclusive iteration of the "Tefnut," produced in a limited run of just 30 pieces to commemorate Moritz Grossmann's first anniversary in Japan. The "Tefnut," a two-hand dress watch unveiled at Baselworld 2015, derives its name from an ancient Egyptian deity. Tefnut, the first deity created by the god of creation, Atum, symbolizes the fiery temperament and the noble elegance of a Nubian cat. True to its name, the Tefnut Japan Limited is a "simple yet mechanically perfect watch" that brilliantly embodies Grossmann's conviction and philosophy to "unite simple elegance with innovation."

The solid silver dial features a specially designed small seconds subdial at 7 o'clock, a first for the brand, and Roman numerals for the hour markers. This creates a design that is both simple and understated, yet possesses an elegant and strong character. The leaf-shaped hands, seemingly simple at first glance, are heat-blued to a sophisticated brown-violet hue. Meticulously finished by hand through numerous processes, their tips are honed to an extreme thinness and length by artisans, extending gracefully to the inner bezel. This delicate craftsmanship ensures easy and precise time reading, captivating the viewer's attention.

The elegant rose gold or white gold case measures 36mm, designed to sit comfortably on the Japanese male wrist. The watch is powered by the in-house manual-winding Calibre 102.0, developed from the ground up for the Tefnut. The sapphire crystal case back offers a view of the movement, which beats at a rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour.
