Luxury Tourbillon with Diamonds

Massive Tri-Axial Tourbillon Rotates Within the Case

Jacob's prowess as a maker of luxury watches is, as expected, first-rate. The "Astronomia Tourbillon," which follows up on its 2014 iteration, and the "Billionaire" presented at this Baselworld, rumored to be the most expensive, with its case and strap entirely encrusted with baguette diamonds, are truly befitting of a high jeweler.

The Colossal Astronomical Tourbillon Returns

The colossal, complex timepiece that debuted in 2014 reappears as two new models in 2015. The "Astronomia Tourbillon" first astonishes with its fully revealed mechanism. Four arms extend from the center, each tipped with a 3-axis tourbillon, a globe, a dial, and a moon-shaped diamond sphere, all in three-dimensional motion. These elements orbit the watch's case while rotating independently.

When combined with the orbital motion around the central axis, this tourbillon effectively moves on three axes, its complexity truly awe-inspiring. This year, two limited editions have been released: 18 pieces worldwide with aventurine set at the base of the mechanism, and 9 pieces worldwide featuring baguette diamonds lavishly set on the base and lugs. It's a watch that makes one want to try it on the wrist, to appreciate the miniature cosmos unfolding within the case.

Color Crystal Used for Dial

The red dial is vivid, complemented by primary blue and green dials. At 12 o'clock, a big date complication displays the ones and tens digits on separate discs, while at 6 o'clock, a power reserve indicator shows the remaining winding. Two semi-complication mechanisms are balanced harmoniously.

Upon closer inspection, the date discs, gears, and even the movement's base plate are visible through the dial. What appears to be a primary color dial is actually set with tinted mineral crystal, onto which the indices, sub-dials, and logo are mounted. This model, which fuses the movement's mechanics with a structured design, is a timepiece best suited for special occasions.
