Romain Jerome is a watch brand with a distinct approach, setting it apart from others favored by the world's affluent. Founded in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2004, the brand has consistently translated significant historical events and cultural touchstones into timepieces, with past collections inspired by "Space Invaders" and the "Apollo program." From Spacecraft to Curvaceous Submersible

This new "Subcraft" model is reminiscent of a spacecraft from a science fiction film, representing an evolution of the "Spacecraft" introduced in 2013.

While the previous "Spacecraft" featured an angular case, the new "Subcraft" boasts a streamlined form, evoking the shape of a manta ray. Its time display is also unique, with the hours indicated by a jumping hour and retrograde mechanism, and the minutes shown on a disc.

This design was overseen by the world-renowned watch designerAlain SilbersteinMr. Alain Silberstein, known for his simple yet playful designs, andRomain JeromeCEO Manuel Emch have shared a friendship spanning over 15 years, leading to their first collaboration.

A Tourbillon Fusing Steam Power and the Avant-Garde

"Steampunk" is a genre of science fiction literature set in the late 19th to early 20th century, an era defined by the Industrial Revolution and steam power. These narratives often blend scientific elements with action and romance. This new addition to the "Steampunk" collection vividly embodies that world.

The skeletonized dial and movement plates allow a view of the internal mechanisms in motion. Thin, plate-like components are secured with thick hexagonal nuts, evoking the aesthetic of a steam engine control panel.

A power reserve indicator is positioned at 4 o'clock, and a vertically moving piston at 9 o'clock. The tourbillon carriage itself is designed with an anchor motif, embodying the very essence of steampunk mechanics.

Furthermore, a variation features a bezel crafted from metal salvaged from the Titanic, treated to achieve a vintage appearance. This collection represents the culmination of avant-garde design infused with a distinctly modern sensibility.

A Skeletonized Structure Within Evokes Skylab

In the 1970s, the United States embarked on a space station construction project named "Skylab" (meaning "laboratory in space"). This watch is a skeletonized model inspired by that endeavor.

To represent the complex structure of a space station, the main plate and bridges are meticulously carved, leaving only essential lines. The barrel, gears, and escapement are arranged in a five-layer, three-dimensional configuration. The case incorporates material from the Apollo 11 mission, truly befitting its designation as a space watch.

The case diameter has been increased from last year's 44mm to 48mm for the new "Skylab." This larger size further accentuates the geometric and three-dimensional arrangement of the components, each meticulously chamfered by hand. It's a rare timepiece where even the smallest parts, down to the main plate and bridges, are exceptionally highlighted and enjoyable to observe.
