A Unique and Lovable Character is Born

Selected as Sweden's entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2011, this film garnered acclaim at various film festivals in Japan, including the 'Tokyo Northern Lights Festival 2012,' and is finally making its theatrical debut.

The director is Andreas Öhman, marking his feature film debut. He centers the story on a young man with Asperger's syndrome, a demographic rarely depicted as protagonists, and visualizes the world as seen through his eyes.

The lead role is played by Bill Skarsgård, son of renowned Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård. The colorful, Scandinavian-inspired interiors vividly adorn the screen, while upbeat, and at times poignant, Swedish pop music enhances the narrative.

Simple Simon

Eighteen-year-old Simon has Asperger's syndrome. He struggles to understand others' emotions, dislikes being touched, and lives by his own set of rules. He loves physics and science fiction, and when something displeases him, he retreats into his personal 'rocket' to launch himself into his imagined universe.

The only one who truly understands Simon is his older brother, Sam. However, Sam is heartbroken after being dumped by his girlfriend because of Simon. This disrupts Simon's own carefully maintained pace. Believing that if Sam had a 'perfect partner,' his life would return to normal, Simon begins searching for someone ideal for his brother. He sets his sights on Jennifer, a free-spirited woman he meets by chance, and sets a plan in motion, but...—.
