A Masterpiece Honored with Numerous Film Awards Finally Arrives in Japan

Hailed as a modern 'Bonnie and Clyde,' this film tells a story that will move your heart, imagining how the real-life bank robbers Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow might have lived if they'd had a future, if they'd had children, after their story ended in a shocking shootout.

The director is David Lowery, a rising young talent named one of Variety's '10 Directors to Watch' in 2013. This is his second feature film. He stated, 'While following the tragic conclusions depicted in films like 'Bonnie and Clyde' (1967) from America's past, I avoided the violent, relentlessly shot endings.'

Starring Rooney Mara, in her first maternal role, and Casey Affleck as her co-star. Both acclaimed actors, nominated for Academy Awards, immediately decided to appear after reading the script, making this dream collaboration a reality.

The Love They Pursued While Separated

The setting is Texas in the 1970s. Bob Muldoon and Ruth Guthrie are a couple engaged in repeated theft and robbery. When Ruth discovers she is pregnant, they attempt to build a legitimate life, but they are eventually arrested by the police.

Bob, who takes Ruth's place in prison, learns that Ruth has given birth to their daughter and plans to escape to meet her unseen child. Bob, pursued simultaneously by the police and an organization he once left, Ruth, raising their precious daughter alone while waiting for Bob, and Patrick, the local sheriff who watches over Ruth from afar with unspoken affection. When their individual desires intersect, a beautiful yet poignant conclusion awaits.
