Gaspard Ulliel Delivers a Powerful Performance as Saint Laurent

Two films about Yves Saint Laurent were presented at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. While "L'Amour fou" received official approval from the Fondation Yves Saint Laurent, the other film, "SAINT LAURENT," which claims to "approach the truths that could not be spoken publicly," is now arriving in Japan.L'Amour fou

In 1967, Yves Saint Laurent was climbing the ladder of success as a designer. His fame was such that Andy Warhol called them "the two great artists of the latter half of the 20th century." However, Saint Laurent gradually became crushed by the pressure of creating new designs. The protective love of Pierre Bergé, his life partner and the one managing the brand, also felt burdensome at times.

Entering the 1970s, he pursued fleeting pleasures with Loulou, who supported him as a muse, model Betty, who indulged in bad habits, and his dangerous lover Jacques. In the midst of this, Saint Laurent eventually became unable to draw a single design..

The film is directed by Bertrand Bonello, known for "House of Tolerance." He beautifully and stylishly depicts the most brilliant and most decadent decade of Saint Laurent's life. The lead role of Saint Laurent is powerfully played by Gaspard Ulliel, who gave a chilling performance as the young Hannibal Lecter in "Hannibal Rising." Also appearing are notable actors such as Léa Seydoux, who made history at Cannes as the first actress to win the Palme d'Or and is soon to be seen as a Bond girl in "Spectre."actress to win the Palme d'Orand will soon be seenas a Bond girl in "Spectre."
