Inspired by the Grand Staircase at the London Flagship
As Burberry's fifth street-level store in Japan and its largest, "Burberry Shinsaibashi" is notable for being designed by CEO and Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey himself. This is the sixth store in Japan, following the relocated and renovated Omotesando store in Tokyo last year, and the third store worldwide to feature this new concept, after London and the Los Angeles store opened late last year. Bailey's design is most vividly expressed on the grand staircase leading to the men's floor on the second level. Inspired by the grand staircase at the London flagship, it features a "Retail Theatre" – a massive 2-meter high LCD screen – making it a symbolic element of "Burberry Shinsaibashi." The overall ambiance of the space is one of refined tranquility, achieved through a color palette unified in grayish-brown tones. This base color, it turns out, is inspired by the color of the trench coat. This chic space, embodying British luxury rather than ostentation, invites lingering with its comfortable atmosphere.
The latest looks from "Burberry Prorsum," including both apparel and footwear, are available in abundance. In-store, as in the brand's home country, they also propose mix-and-match coordination with items from "London" and "Brit." Stepping through the large glass doors on the first floor, you are first greeted by accessories such as women's bags and wallets. The sheer quantity and variety of colors are astonishing. Seasonal items from "Burberry Prorsum" are available, alongside designs suitable for daily use. Popular sunglasses and scarves are also offered.
Upon ascending to the second floor, you are immediately welcomed by men's accessories and the "Burberry Prorsum" collection. Notably, this is the only store in Osaka Prefecture to carry the men's collection, offering a lineup that is eagerly anticipated by male fans throughout the Kansai region.
The tailoring room offers a wide range of options, from tailored suits to tuxedos. The fitting advice from staff considers future style changes, providing recommendations with long-term vision. The most popular choice is the travel tailoring, praised for its comfort, authentic design, and slim silhouette.
