Theme: "Immortal Rock Spirit"

With "Fashion is Live!" emblazoned on the cover, we structured the latest issue, "PLEASE15." By distorting or double-exposing the show images of COMME des GARÇONS and noir kei ninomiya, rather than presenting them as lookbooks, we aimed to capture the emotional impact of models walking the runway in the clothes. And there was a show that conveyed the importance of that "Live" quality for the upcoming season.

The JUNYA WATANABE AW21-22 show was held at Toyosu PIT. The venue was a large live house. While I've seen shows in live houses before, the direction of this show as a rock concert in a live house was exceptionally well done.
I've attended many shows featuring live bands, but this one, without a band, utilized only band equipment – guitars, drums, and bass – as part of the stage production. The lighting, reminiscent of a rock concert, and the models' movements, all conveyed a simple yet powerful energy. Witnessing a show like this truly invigorates the spirit.

The theme is "Immortal Rock Spirit." It's refreshingly simple. It stirred the rock spirit within each of us, leaving a sense of rhythm in the body, much like after attending a rock concert.
For JUNYA WATANABE, the spirit of rock in fashion lies in Versace, Levi's® 501®, and rock T-shirts.

What caught the eye at this show were the flamboyant prints. Apparently, this is the Junya Watanabe Comme des Garçons × Versace Iconic Print Project. The collaboration items, which use six Versace scarf visuals, added further brilliance to the stage.

This season, original items in the JUNYA WATANABE style are created using rock T-shirts from an impressive lineup of bands and musicians, including Aerosmith, Queen, The Who, KISS, Def Leppard, Sex Pistols, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, and The Rolling Stones. This collection is full of pieces that any man would covet.
