Mode-inspired autumn/winter layering with a touch of reality.
DIESEL BLACK GOLD's Autumn/Winter 2016-17 menswear collection draws inspiration from the style of bike messengers navigating urban streets. This season showcases DIESEL BLACK GOLD's signature innovative layering, featuring items like trousers that combine shorts and slim pants, and outfits pairing long shirts with voluminous outerwear. The collection is filled with functional elements.
Meanwhile, the womenswear collection, which moved its presentation from New York to Milan this season, has evolved. The addition of feminine nuances to the brand's previously strong and contemporary female image has resulted in a more refined aesthetic. For instance, while items like sequined biker jackets and pleated mini skirts are simple in themselves, the breadth of taste is evident, perhaps due to Melbostad's focus on "richness and the sweetness of a romantic night." The lineup is perfectly suited for the city of Milan, offering a romantic selection.
For both men and women, the key color palette is navy, evoking a serene night. The iconic combination of black and white is also presented with exquisite balance. This is the cool, urban style that defines DIESEL BLACK GOLD.
This season's DIESEL BLACK GOLD elevates current street styles into high fashion, featuring voluminous oversized outerwear paired with skin-tight skinny pants. Referencing the layering techniques of stylist Toshio Takeda, we hope this provides inspiration for your autumn/winter wardrobe planning.
"For menswear, the inspiration was New York messenger style, creating an urban yet somewhat industrial atmosphere. To balance the brand's signature oversized silhouettes, the key, as proposed by Andreas Melbostad, lies in the interplay between tight and voluminous pieces. Layering at the neckline, such as wearing a mock neck shirt or cut-and-sew beneath a crew neck top, will achieve an advanced look."
"For womenswear, the navy color palette enhances a romantic mood, adding a pure strength to the brand's traditionally handsome and sophisticated style. Feminine details like high-waisted denim pants and pleated skirts are effectively used, creating a cool style with a sense of femininity. Similar to menswear, enjoying layered looks with variations in texture for a monochromatic outfit creates a sophisticated impression. We recommend coordinating with the top tucked in to emphasize the feminine silhouette."
