A New Wardrobe Born from the Fusion of Modernity and Ethnicity
This season, DIESEL BLACK GOLD draws inspiration from travel, translating global cultures and timeless tribal motifs into contemporary styles. While retaining the brand's signature details found in streetwear like denim and biker jackets, and rugged military wear, the collection is richly adorned with ethnic patterns.
A diverse array of bohemian patterns, showcased from the opening of the show, adorns nearly every piece. Fringe jackets, ikat-woven pullovers, and Inuit-inspired shearling coats are paired with pants embellished with stones and studs reminiscent of Native American jewelry. Footwear includes Western-style Santiago boots and ruffled moccasins. The collection masterfully blends ethnic costumes from various regions—South America, Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Arab world—with a modern, urban sensibility.
For men, layered looks feature long, tunic-like overshirts and pullovers peeking from beneath compact outerwear. These are balanced with slim-fit leather or denim pants, and accented with Navajo-patterned leather biker or bomber jackets, offering a captivating wardrobe. For women, the collection presents a more feminine impression with voluminous peasant blouses and loose-fitting tunic dresses adorned with embroidery. Slit-detail bell-bottom pants evoke a subtle hippie vibe.
This season, DIESEL BLACK GOLD reinterprets bohemian and tribal patterns through its signature cool and sharp aesthetic. This feature also highlights the styling by Tomoki Sukeza, Editor-in-Chief.
“The 2018-19 Autumn/Winter collection was crafted through the lens of diverse global cultures. Signature items like leather jackets, military pea coats, and denim pants are reinterpreted with Native American patterns, lending them an ethnic flair.
While keywords like bohemian and ethnic are prominent, the DIESEL BLACK GOLD essence remains. Instead of directly adopting the simple, natural colors of traditional ethnic wear, the palette is adapted to monochrome, maintaining the brand's signature modern and urban style.
Therefore, we created a fashion story that blends Native American motifs with the free-spirited feel of the 70s. We hope you find inspiration for your autumn and winter looks in the models' hair, makeup, and poses.”
