This season, DIESEL BLACK GOLD presents a men's collection inspired by the styles of workers captured by Irving Penn.

Irving Penn, one of the most influential American fashion photographers of the 20th century, gained fame for his modern and innovative photography for publications like "Harper's Bazaar" and "Vogue." His "SMALL TRADES" portrait series, shot between 1950 and 1951, features realistic depictions of workers from various fields—coal miners, teachers, butchers, and cleaners—alongside their tools of the trade in Paris, London, and New York.

Crisp, raw denim sets, hickory-striped oversized work jackets, and sweatshirt pullovers with integrated shirts are among the offerings. Even with workwear as a base, DIESEL BLACK GOLD imbues these pieces with its signature clean and urban sensibility.

For women, the collection accelerates the feminine direction from the previous season, centering on mini-length dresses adorned with abundant ruffles and lace, rather than the usual studs and tough leather. Military elements, such as MA-1 style jackets and lace-up boots, are subtly incorporated to balance the sweetness, creating a powerful, romantic style that is more than just feminine.

"For the Spring/Summer 2017 season, the collection is based on working-class attire from the 1950s. With that in mind, I drew inspiration from Irving Penn's photo book 'SMALL TRADES' to create a fashion story in the style of portraits."

It can be interesting to think about styling based on such 'imagined' scenarios."
