"HAVE A POP CLASSICO HOLIDAY" Features a Wealth of Luxurious Initiatives!



Based on the world of her 37th album, "POP CLASSICO," released on November 20th (Wednesday), singer-songwriter Yumi Matsutoya (Yuming) andBarneys New Yorkhave launched a new collaboration. Titled "HAVE A POP CLASSICO HOLIDAY," the initiative will unfold a variety of content leading up to Christmas.

From exclusive item sales to dynamic window displays, a photo booth where you can become Yuming, and even secret events, there's so much to experience.

Yuming Appears as a Doorman, Drawing Exclamations of Surprise



The collaboration between Barneys New York and Yuming is remarkably comprehensive. It's all based on the artwork for her new album, "POP CLASSICO," her first in two years and seven months. As the title suggests, it expresses a world where past and future intersect fantastically across time and space.

The art direction was handled by the acclaimed Chie Morimoto. Yuming plays fantastical characters, such as a woman conducting time in an anemone-like dress, and ladies and gentlemen having tea in an upside-down underwater world. The collaged works are captivating.

The window display, created by Barneys New York's Creative Director Masahiko Taniguchi, brings the world of the album jacket to life. Stylish gimmicks create a "moving display" that enhances the Christmas mood. Furthermore, utilizing the window's design to allow people inside, surprise performances are planned, such as live music embodying "HAVE A POP CLASSICO HOLIDAY" by musicians. On November 11th, as the first secret event, Yuming appeared as the doorman at the Ginza store.

"Experiencing being a doorman on the first day of "HAVE A POP CLASSICO HOLIDAY" was a truly joyful experience. I was able to welcome customers naturally, and at some point, I was so immersed that I didn't even realize why customers were asking for my handshake. The window display collaboration is also truly wonderful, and I felt inspired to do something surprising for everyone again. Furthermore, I'm delighted that a special Christmas version of my new song 'Babies are popstars' is playing in the store. Please do listen!"

Many were moved to tears upon recognizing Yuming before them. Others picked up and examined the collaboration items, or took photos of the window display, each enjoying the special atmosphere. Additionally, a photo booth allows visitors to transform into Yuming in her 12 different looks from the "POP CLASSICO" jacket, offering a chance to feel as if photographed by Leslie Kee. The captured images can be posted on Facebook, making them easy to share. Experiencing these various installations undoubtedly allows one to fully enjoy the special Christmas ambiance.

High-End Collaboration Items with a Hidden Feminine Touch



The jacket of the highly anticipated 37th album, "POP CLASSICO," features a playful artwork where Yuming's collage forms the album title's letters. This campaign incorporates the album's theme of "breaking through the classic, advancing, and sublimating" into its collaborative items. Beyond Barneys New York's original products, the collection includes apparel designed by Kunihiko Morinaga, designer of the trendy brand "ANREALAGE," and T-shirts produced by the artist collective "XEROSEN." The quality and craftsmanship are exceptional.

Notably, the collaboration items with "ANREALAGE" feature a series of garments that express the alphabet using the brand's signature pattern work. A trench coat, when folded in half, forms the letter "P." The skirt represents "O," the sweatpants "C," the stole "L," the sweatshirt "A," the dress "S," and the T-shirt dress "I." Together, they spell out the album title "POP CLASSICO." When worn, the unique curves and relaxed fit create elegant drapes, adding a feminine nuance. These pieces combine high design with practicality.

Among the most striking items is a limited-edition remade dress, crafted by hand from approximately 100 of Yuming's past tour T-shirts, each cut into 2cm strips. Only five of these exist. Other items include tote bags, printed T-shirts, bear charms, and chocolates. All are expected to sell out quickly, so it's advisable to see them in person without delay.
