A Rare Opportunity to See Pierre Paulin's Works Gathered in Japan
Pierre Paulin was a leading French designer active during the mid-century. After studying furniture traditions and craftsmanship at the École Camondo in Paris, he designed numerous pieces for companies such as Thonet in France in the 1950s and Artifort in the Netherlands in the 1960s.
In 1965, he unveiled the "Ribbon Chair," celebrated for its sculptural form and comfort, followed the next year by the "Tongue Chair," whose name evokes its distinctive shape. These works, characterized by Paulin's signature organic design, reflect his early aspirations as a sculptor.
Founded on the principles of Art and Comfort, the Dutch company Artifort began as an interior decoration firm in 1890. From 1930, it expanded into furniture manufacturing, releasing uniquely designed pieces that set it apart and defined an era.
Artifort's products are not widely distributed in Japan, making this exhibition and sale a valuable opportunity. The displayed items are from the exhibition itself and will be offered at special, one-time prices, making this an unmissable event.
