Commemorative Event to Feature Visit from Ms. Christine Kjærholm
The "PK22™" lounge chair is a signature work by Poul Kjærholm, who consistently pursued ideal forms and industrial exploration. His signature style of using steel for the frame began with his graduation project, the "PK25™" Element Chair, at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts. The chair has since been cherished worldwide, receiving the Grand Prix at the 1957 Milan Triennale.
This time, "REPUBLIC OF FRITZ HANSEN STORE AOYAMA / OSAKA" introduces an original leather specification for the "PK22™." The leather is 1.3mm thick, lightly buffed on the surface, and dyed with aniline dyes (a finish that highlights the natural grain of the leather) to preserve its natural texture, including subtle neck wrinkles. Inspired by sand dunes, the surface has a slightly pale, firm finish.
On Thursday, May 15th, "REPUBLIC OF FRITZ HANSEN STORE AOYAMA / OSAKA" will host the first-ever Japanese launch event for "SÆSON," a rug collection curated by Christine Kjærholm, Poul Kjærholm's daughter.
Furthermore, on Friday, May 16th, a talk session will be held featuring Christine Kjærholm, Makoto Shimazaki (a close associate of Poul Kjærholm), and Noritsugu Oda (an expert in Nordic furniture design). Held amidst a display of Poul Kjærholm's complete collection, including items exhibited in Japan for the first time, the event will delve into both the products and the persona of Poul Kjærholm.
