On October 25th, ACTUS celebrated the grand reopening of its Shinjuku flagship store, its first renovation in nine years. A Chair We've Always Wanted

The newly announced "AOYAMA" furniture series marks the first phase of a collaborative project between designer, manufacturer, and retailer, aiming to bring "more high-quality, timeless, and enduringly beloved furniture" into the world.

Naoto Fukasawa commented, "I felt the need for a comfortable, lightweight wooden chair that could serve equally well as a dining chair or as a standalone piece. I wanted to design a chair that feels familiar yet subtly unique, one that catches the eye, invites you to test its comfort, and makes you want to touch it before buying – a chair that makes you think, 'This is the chair I've been looking for.' I believe this means a chair that isn't overly individualistic. While the armchair's arms have a distinctive character, they maintain an overall sense of normalcy."

He further explained, "The name 'AOYAMA' was chosen because ACTUS was founded in Aoyama, and the name of the district itself evokes a strong connection with the design for everyone. We hope people will cherish these light and easy-to-use chairs for a long time."

Akira Kyuyama, representative of ACTUS, added, "Choosing objects that enrich the soul and using them with care – isn't this a beautiful way to live? The furniture before me embodies ACTUS's philosophy. I am committed to carrying forward the aspirations of ACTUS's founding members to promote beautiful living and beautiful life design, alongside this 'AOYAMA' series."

The new "AOYAMA" furniture series is on display at the ACTUS Aoyama store during the Designers' Week period, until November 3rd (Sunday).
