ICHIRO | New Product Announcement & Talk Event

ICHIRO | ICHIRO

Announced to coincide with Autumn Design Week!

New Product & Talk Event Held

ICHIRO, a decorative laminate manufacturer, is rethinking the very concept of "furniture" and creating "furniture as everyday tools" from a new perspective. To mark the "BAtoMA information" event, which begins on Thursday, October 31st, they will be unveiling new products and hosting a talk event.

Lightweight Furniture Unbound by Purpose

The new products being unveiled this time are the work of three individuals: the architecture firm Torafu Architects, product designer Yota Kakuda (Yota Kakuda Design), and Shigeki Fujishiro (shigeki fujishiro design). Under the theme of "Furniture to be Stored Away," they have designed light, small furniture pieces that blend seamlessly into daily life and function flexibly.

The "Kororo Wagon," designed by Torafu Architects, is a mobile wagon with a stacking system of three storage boxes.

Each storage box has an L-shaped handle, allowing them to be carried separately like baskets. When the handles are raised vertically and fixed inside the boxes, they also serve as supports for stacking. The unique color combinations, available in two variations, add to its appeal.

"Bend," designed by Shigeki Fujishiro, is a mirror that can be hung on a wall or folded to stand on its own. Instead of using metal hinges, a canvas is sandwiched between two plywood panels, allowing the mirror itself to function as a large hinge. A precisely cut slit in the canvas holds it at the perfect angle when folded, and it naturally returns to a flat position when lifted. It can also be hung on a wall by hooking a hole onto a hook.

"Chabu," designed by Yota Kakuda, is inspired by the traditional Japanese "chabudai" (low dining table) and its ability to be easily stored away depending on the space. This is a modern reinterpretation of that concept.

The tabletop is available in four colors: natural, gray, pink, and blue, and comes in two sizes, L and S.

Talk Event at BAtoMA information

At the BAtoMA information venue, a talk event titled "Spaces and Intervals Considered Through Furniture" will be held with architects and designers involved in ICHIRO's manufacturing. Divided into two parts, one from an architect's perspective and the other from a product designer's perspective, the event will explore the new relationship between "space, people, and objects" that ICHIRO is considering with designers.
