The Fifth-Generation Prius Makes Its Global Debut—Aiming to Be a "Beloved Car," Not a "Commodity" | TOYOTA

HEV: Winter, PHEV: Spring 2023

In terms of advanced safety and driver assistance systems, the latest preventive safety package, "Toyota Safety Sense," with enhanced functions, is standard equipment. The "Advanced Park" system (with remote function) is available, enabling smooth automatic parking and unparking in various scenarios, as well as remote parking and unparking via a dedicated smartphone app from outside the vehicle.
For convenience, accessory outlets (AC100V, 1,500W) are installed in two locations: the rear of the center console and the luggage compartment. Users can select between "EV Charging Mode," which supplies power from the battery alone without starting the engine, and "HV Charging Mode," where the engine generates electricity when the battery level drops. An external power supply attachment is standard, preventing insects and rainwater from entering the cabin during charging, and allowing external power supply with the doors closed.
The PHEV also features the second-generation "Solar Charging System," which converts sunlight into electricity more efficiently, generating enough power annually to cover approximately 1,250 km of driving.
While parked, the generated electricity charges the drive battery and supplies power not only for driving but also for various functions like the air conditioner. While driving, the generated electricity supplements the power consumption of the auxiliary battery system.
The Series Parallel Hybrid Vehicle (HEV) is scheduled for release this winter, and the Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHEV) around Spring 2023.
