Transmitting "Japan Pride" to the World with Century
The "Japan Mobility Show," a celebration of mobility held every two years, featured a presentation by the Toyota Group just before its opening.
Announced by Chairman Akio Toyoda in conjunction with this year's Mobility Show was the launch of Century as a brand.
Until now, Century was a model within the Toyota brand, but it will now be established as the flagship brand of the Toyota Group. A scarlet two-door coupe concept car was also unveiled at the venue.
In his speech, Chairman Toyoda stated, "I believe Century is a car born from 'Japan Pride,' with development beginning in 1963, 18 years after the war." He further elaborated on the significance of the brand launch, saying, "More than half a century has passed since the birth of the first Century, and I believe Century represents the challenge of creating Japan's 'next 100 years.'"
He also expressed his aspirations, stating, "Century is not just one of Toyota Motor Corporation's brands. We want to nurture it into a brand that transmits 'Japan Pride' to the world."
In addition, Toyota President Koji Sato presented on Toyota and Daihatsu.
Toyota's theme for this show is "TO YOU." Referring to the newly unveiled concept model of Toyota's new "Corolla," he introduced it as "Corolla, a symbol of creating cars 'TO YOU,' for someone."

Furthermore, he showcased mobility for children and mobility that allows anyone to enjoy sports, stating, "We want to create even better cars 'aimed at you' with this renewal, and mass-produce happiness."
President Sato then spoke about Daihatsu. Daihatsu's theme is "My Daihatsu-Mei," focusing on creating small cars that meet people's needs. The concept model "Midget X," which can be called the "Midget of the Future," and the "K-OPEN," a rear-wheel-drive (FR) lightweight open-top car that is a successor to the "Copen," were among those unveiled.
At Lexus, COO Simon Humphries took the stage. "Lexus's aspiration is 'DISCOVER.' We want to lead to the discovery of a new luxury lifestyle that is confident, adventurous, and innovative, without imitating anyone. Today, we want to re-examine the concept of 'luxury brand' with all of you," he appealed, proposing Lexus's unique take on luxury.
At the venue, the six-wheeled minivan-style chauffeur car "LS Concept" had its world premiere, and the "LS Coupe Concept," which offers driving enjoyment, was also shown in Japan for the first time.
The "Japan Mobility Show 2025" will be open to the public from Friday, October 31, 1:30 PM, to Sunday, November 9, at Tokyo Big Sight.
