First-Ever "Arene" Platform Debuts, Enhancing Safety and Entertainment

The RAV4, born in 1994 as a trailblazer in the crossover SUV segment, has undergone its sixth full model change.
With the development concept of "Life is an Adventure," the new model aims to be a "partner" that fits every lifestyle, whether in the city or the great outdoors.
The RAV4, sold in 180 countries and regions worldwide, will be the first Toyota vehicle to adopt the "Arene" software development platform. This platform has been developed by Woven by Toyota, a Toyota subsidiary, and marks the full-scale commencement of Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) development.
Toyota emphasizes that the value proposition of SDVs extends beyond mere entertainment and convenience to realizing "peace of mind and safety" and "zero traffic accidents." The new model incorporates a next-generation multimedia system with improved response speed and comprehension for voice recognition, along with the latest safety features, including sudden acceleration suppression.
The powertrain lineup includes plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and hybrid (HEV) options. The PHEV model, based on Toyota's first-ever sixth-generation hybrid system, achieves an EV cruising range of 150 km thanks to a high-capacity drive battery and other enhancements. It also features rapid charging, allowing it to reach 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes.
The exterior adopts the "SUV Hammerhead" design, emphasizing a rugged image. Three distinct styles are offered: the sophisticated "CORE," the rugged "ADVENTURE" with its high nose peak and robust features, and the "GR SPORT," which pursues driving enjoyment through performance-oriented tuning and sporty styling.
The interior features an instrument panel lowered by approximately 40 mm for improved visibility, creating a modern and simple space. Furthermore, the luggage capacity has been expanded from the previous 733 liters to 749 liters, with the option for a full-flat configuration.
The new model offers three distinct styles to cater to diverse needs. Specifically, the "CORE" features a refined design; the "ADVENTURE" achieves a powerful SUV presence with its wider track, dedicated wheel arch moldings, and large grille; and the "GR SPORT" enhances driving pleasure through suspension tuning and body rigidity enhancements informed by motorsport expertise, along with sporty styling.
The new RAV4, packed with the latest in software-defined vehicle technology and set for a worldwide release, is eagerly anticipated in Japan.
