Porsche Unveils the Taycan Cross Turismo, its Electric Crossover Model
Porsche Japan announced on March 5 that it would begin accepting reservations for the Taycan Cross Turismo, a versatile crossover model derived from the electric Taycan, from the same day.
A Major Step Forward in Porsche's E-Mobility Journey
The exterior of the Taycan Cross Turismo largely follows the concept study "Mission E Cross Turismo" unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Its silhouette is defined by a sporty roofline that slopes downwards towards the rear, which Porsche designers call the "flyline."
Off-road design elements include wheel arch trims, unique front and rear lower aprons, and side sills. It also features special flaps on the corners of the front and rear bumpers and the sill ends, which not only accentuate the exterior but also protect against stone chips.
Inside, it offers 47mm more headroom for rear passengers and over 1,200 liters of luggage space accessible through the large tailgate, making it a true all-rounder.
In terms of driving, like the Taycan, it features an innovative electric drive with an 800V architecture, and all models come standard with a 93.4 kWh performance battery Plus. It also boasts a high-tech chassis with all-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension, and the optional Off-Road Design Package can increase the ground clearance by up to 30mm. This allows the Cross Turismo to handle challenging off-road terrain, with the standard "Gravel Mode" enhancing its suitability for rough road driving.
The Taycan Cross Turismo comes in three models, with their respective performance and prices as follows:
• Taycan 4 Cross Turismo
- 280 kW (380 PS), 350 kW (476 PS) overboost power with launch control, 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, top speed 220 km/h, range (WLTP) 389–456 km, price ¥13,090,000
• Taycan 4S Cross Turismo
- 360 kW (490 PS), 420 kW (571 PS) overboost power with launch control, 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, top speed 240 km/h, range (WLTP) 388–452 km, price ¥15,020,000
• Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo
- 460 kW (625 PS), 500 kW (680 PS) overboost power with launch control, 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, top speed 250 km/h, range (WLTP) 395–452 km, price ¥20,240,000
Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, commented: "Porsche sent an important message with the market launch of its first fully electric sports car in 2019. We see ourselves as pioneers of sustainable mobility and expect that half of all new Porsche vehicles sold by 2025 will be equipped with an electric drive, either purely electric or as a plug-in hybrid. In 2020, one-third of all vehicles sold in Europe were equipped with an electric powertrain. The future belongs to E-mobility. With the Taycan Cross Turismo, we are taking another significant step in this direction."
