The electrified future, foretold by Rolls-Royce co-founder Charles Rolls in 1900, is now realized. The model embodying this vision, the Spectre, has arrived in Japan.
The Spectre adopts a two-door fastback style, inspired by contemporary art, yachts, and haute couture. Its front, reminiscent of the Phantom Coupé, features the brand's widest-ever grille and split headlights, contributing to a majestic presence with a width of nearly two meters.
The Pantheon grille, designed with a gentle angle to optimize airflow around the front, and the Spirit of Ecstasy, the result of 830 hours of design and wind tunnel testing, contribute to achieving the lowest drag coefficient in Rolls-Royce history at 0.25.
The interior offers a bespoke experience, leveraging cutting-edge technology. Items befitting the Spectre's name, such as the 'Starlight Doors' with 4,796 stars etched onto the inside of the coach doors and the 'Illuminated Fascia' composed of 5,584 stars, create a dreamlike atmosphere reminiscent of the night sky.
Furthermore, it features the first fully digital bespoke instrument dials in a Rolls-Royce. Buyers can choose the color of the dial to match the interior's color scheme, and can also select the color for the front seats, inspired by British tailoring.
Additionally, the digital function named 'SPIRIT' allows users to manage charging times and range, and even send messages from car to car via Rolls-Royce's unique 'Whispers' application.
The vehicle underwent a test program covering 2.5 million kilometers, with an expected lifespan of over 400 years. This development process was the most rigorous in the brand's 120-year history, overcoming extreme temperature conditions from -40℃ to +50℃, as well as various environments including the Arctic ice and snow, deserts, high-altitude mountain roads, and major cities worldwide.
The body utilizes the all-aluminium spaceframe 'Architecture of Luxury,' achieving 30% higher rigidity.
The electric drive produces a maximum output of 430kW and peak torque of 900Nm, with a top speed of 250km/h and acceleration from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds. The estimated range is 530km.
Reservations for the Spectre are now open, with deliveries scheduled to commence sequentially from October 2023.
