Direct Retail Hub Opens in Yokohama in July
To facilitate a seamless purchase experience for its re-entry into the Japanese market, Hyundai has introduced a fully online process.
The BEV, Ioniq 5, is a model that pays homage to the 1974 Pony Concept designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Sustainable materials are used for the seats and interior. The model is offered in four variations, differing in battery capacity, motor type, and drivetrain.
The entry-level model generates a maximum output of 125kW (170ps) and 350Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels. Its range on a single charge is 498km according to WLTC mode. The top-tier "Ioniq 5 Lounge AWD" produces 225kW (305ps) and 605Nm, with all-wheel drive, achieving a range of 635km on a single charge.
The Nexo, on the other hand, is an FCEV capable of traveling 820km on a single hydrogen fill-up according to WLTC mode. Launched in 2018, it was also selected for the "Wards 10 Best Engines" in the US in 2019.
These Hyundai models are sold online. Furthermore, the "Hyundai Customer Experience Center Yokohama," a direct retail hub for viewing vehicles and test drives, will open in July 2022, with a maintenance facility to follow in September. Plans are also in place to open facilities for test drives, experiences, and vehicle deliveries in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Fukuoka this summer.
The price for the Ioniq 5 ranges from 4.79 million to 5.89 million yen, while the Nexo is priced at 7,768,300 yen.
