The Maybach SUV, Maybach GLS600 4MATIC, Debuts | Mercedes-Maybach
558 hp, 730 Nm 4-Liter V8 Mild Hybrid
The powertrain utilizes a 3,982cc V8 twin-turbo engine, the "M177," combined with a 48V electrical system and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The system's maximum output is 558 hp (410 kW) with a peak torque of 730 Nm. The ISG can momentarily provide an additional 22 hp (16 kW) and 250 Nm.
A key feature is cylinder deactivation in the low to mid-load range. When "Comfort" is selected in Dynamic Select, four cylinders are deactivated within the engine speed range of 800 to 3,250 rpm. The transmission is a 9G-TRONIC. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system can vary the front-to-rear torque distribution from 0:100 to 100:0 depending on driving conditions.
The suspension employs E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL. Based on the AIRMATIC system, actuators compatible with 48V have been added to each wheel, allowing for individual control of spring rates and damper settings.
Road Surface Scan uses a stereo camera to monitor undulations on the road ahead and pre-emptively adjusts the damper settings, providing a flat ride. Additionally, the CURVE function within Dynamic Select corrects for body roll during cornering, maintaining a level stance.
The off-road mode's recovery function assists in getting unstuck, such as on sand dunes, by repeatedly moving each wheel up and down individually, varying the load on the tires to regain traction.
Furthermore, while the "Comfort" mode in Dynamic Select prioritizes ride comfort for all seats, the "Maybach" mode specifically focuses on optimizing the comfort of the rear seats.
The price of the Maybach GLS600 4MATIC is 27.29 million yen.
