Mazda's First Mass-Produced EV, the MX-30 EV Model, Arrives
Mazda has launched the MX-30 EV Model, its first mass-produced electric vehicle (EV).
Total Battery Capacity 35.5kWh, 256km Range in WLTC Mode
Following the compact SUV "MX-30 Mild Hybrid" released in October 2020, Mazda has released the "MX-30 EV Model," its first mass-produced EV, as part of its challenge to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
The body utilizes the "Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture," a new-generation vehicle structural technology that enhances the basic frame and body specifically for EVs. A straight basic frame and a ring structure that incorporates the battery pack as part of the frame achieve a low center of gravity and high rigidity.
The electrification technology used is "e-Skyactiv," which generates a maximum output of 107kW and a maximum torque of 270Nm, driving the front wheels.
To achieve seamless vehicle behavior only possible with an EV, it is also equipped with "Electric G-Vectoring Control Plus." It is designed to respond intuitively to steering and pedal operations.
The "Regenerative Cooperative Brake" system determines the braking force required by the driver based on brake pedal input, providing maximum energy regeneration within that range and supplementing with friction braking as needed. It also features a "Motor Pedal" for torque control that aligns with human senses, and "Sound" that allows the driver to unconsciously perceive the torque status according to acceleration.
Considering a practical driving range for daily use, the lithium-ion battery has a total capacity of 35.5kWh, achieving a range of 256km in WLTC mode. Charging supports standard (AC) charging up to 6.6kW, as well as rapid (DC) charging via the CHAdeMO standard.
Charging can be managed via the "MyMazda" smartphone app, allowing users to check charging status remotely from their homes, operate the interior air conditioning from outside the vehicle, and search for nearby charging spots.
Additionally, the "i-Activsense" suite of advanced safety technologies, including Radar Cruise Control and Lane Keep Control, is standard.
The price of the "MX-30 EV Model" ranges from 4.51 million to 4.95 million yen.
