A System to Reduce Atmospheric CO2 While Driving

Mazda's theme for the "Japan Mobility Show 2025" is "The Joy of Driving Makes the Earth Smile." In line with this theme, which imagines 10 years from now in 2035, the company world-premiered two vision models: "MAZDA VISION X-COUPE" and "MAZDA VISION X-COMPACT."

MAZDA VISION X-COUPE

The "MAZDA VISION X-COUPE" is a crossover coupe that further evolves the "Kodo" design language, equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system combining a two-rotor rotary turbo engine, electric motors, and a battery.

It boasts a maximum output of 510 ps and is said to achieve a cruising range of 160 km on electric power alone and 800 km when combined with the engine.

What's more, the combination of carbon-neutral fuel derived from microalgae and Mazda's unique "Mazda Mobile Carbon Capture" technology is particularly noteworthy. This creates a future where driving actively reduces atmospheric CO2.

MAZDA VISION X-COMPACT

The "MAZDA VISION X-COMPACT," on the other hand, aims to deepen the bond between people and cars through the fusion of a "Human Body and Sensitivity Model" that digitizes human senses and an empathetic AI.

It expresses Mazda's vision for the future of smart mobility, where the car can engage in casual conversation, suggest destinations, and act as a close friend to expand one's world.

Also on display is the European specification of the new "CX-5," a world premiere for the general public. It features the new "MAZDA E/E ARCHITECTURE+" electronic platform, aiming for an evolved driving experience.

At the press conference, Mazda President and CEO Masahiro Moro stated, "The phrase 'The Joy of Driving Makes the Earth Smile' is Mazda's origin and the core of our future challenges. Under the common mission of carbon neutrality for humanity, we believe that the 'joy of driving' can be a force for good in society and the future of our planet, and we will continue to fulfill the desire to 'love cars' and 'want to drive forever.'"

The "Japan Mobility Show 2025" will be open to the public from Friday, October 31st at 1:30 PM until Sunday, November 9th at Tokyo Big Sight.
