The 508: A Production Version of "5 by Peugeot"
The new 508 can be seen as the production version of the "5 by Peugeot" concept car, which was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Positioned as the successor to the current 407, it will be available in two body styles: sedan and SW (station wagon).
Its dimensions are 4,790mm in length for the sedan and 4,810mm for the SW, suggesting a slight increase in size compared to the 407.
The exterior design adopts design motifs from the "SR1" concept car, announced in January, featuring what can be described as Peugeot's new design language: a "stylish and powerful form."
All engines are equipped with "e-HDi," Peugeot's latest system featuring a new generation of stop-start technology, which improves fuel efficiency by up to 15 percent. Environmental performance is also enhanced through weight reduction and aerodynamic optimization.
A Hybrid Model with EV Mode Also Planned
Furthermore, Peugeot plans to add a hybrid model to the 508 lineup, featuring "Hybrid4" technology. This model will be a 4WD version boasting a maximum output of 200ps and will incorporate an EV mode, with CO2 emissions stated at 99g/km.
The interior utilizes carefully selected materials, with attention paid not only to aesthetics but also to tactile feel. The cabin is more spacious than the 407's, resulting in a more comfortable and premium environment. The luggage space has also been enlarged, enhancing functionality.
This new 508 is scheduled for its official debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.
