BMW Introduces the iX M60, the Top-Tier M-Performance Model in the iX Series
BMW has added the iX M60, the top model in the iX series of BEVs, to its lineup and commenced sales.
619ps, 1015Nm of High Power, 0-100km/h in 3.6 Seconds
The iX M60, bearing the "M" designation, has arrived as the top model of BMW's BEV based on the SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) platform.
The power unit befits the "M" designation. Motors producing a maximum output of 190kW (258ps) on the front axle and 360kW (489ps) on the rear axle combine for a system total of 455kW (619ps), driving all four wheels. Despite a gross vehicle weight of 2,875kg, close to three tons, the maximum torque is 1,015Nm, with 0-100km/h acceleration reportedly achieved in 3.8 seconds.
The total energy capacity of the lithium-ion battery, housed beneath the vehicle floor, is 111.5kWh, providing a driving range of 615km on a single charge.
The vehicle is also equipped with a four-wheel adaptive air suspension that maintains optimal ground clearance according to driving conditions, contributing to ride comfort, agility, and stability. At the driver's preference, a sport mode stiffens the dampers and lowers the vehicle, and a switch allows for adjusting the ride height by up to 20mm higher or 10mm lower.
The "Integrated Active Steering" system, which provides integrated control of the front and rear wheels, actively steers the rear wheels according to driving conditions. This enhances maneuverability in urban environments and sporty driving performance, while also improving stability during cornering, which in turn enhances ride comfort for rear passengers. At low speeds, the rear wheels steer up to 3.2° in the opposite direction of the front wheels, improving the vehicle's turning radius and making it easier to handle. At high speeds, the rear wheels steer up to 2° in the same direction as the front wheels, enabling stable turn-ins on winding roads and smooth lane changes at high speeds.
The "Driving Assistant Professional" is standard safety equipment. It includes Active Cruise Control, Lane Change Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking, and functions to prevent sudden acceleration due to pedal misapplication.
Inside the cabin, the Heat Comfort Package, a new heating concept, is standard to prevent significant power consumption from the air conditioning in winter. Surface heating technology warms the seats, steering wheel, center console, door panels, and the lower dashboard, ensuring a comfortable cabin temperature.
Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with "BMW ConnectedDrive" featuring an onboard communication module, "BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant" which uses AI technology to activate functions via voice command, and Amazon's cloud-based voice service "Amazon Alexa."
The price of the iX M60 is 17.4 million yen.
