The World's First 6MT in a Hybrid Car

The hybrid system features Honda's unique combination of a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine and IMA (Integrated Motor Assist). It generates a maximum torque of 174 N･m at low RPMs of 1000-1500 (with a maximum output of 124 ps). This allows for acceleration beyond what would be expected from its displacement, with a smooth revving all the way to high RPMs. In addition to a CVT with paddle shifters, the transmission also includes a 6-speed manual, a world-first for a hybrid vehicle.

This combination of hybrid system and transmission achieves a fuel economy of 25.0 km/l for the CVT and 22.5 km/l for the MT in the 10-15 mode test. Furthermore, true to Honda's style, attention has been paid to the exhaust note, with acceleration sound tuning synchronized to engine revolutions incorporated into this model.

The styling adopts a low and wide design, with a one-motion form that flows from the front nose to the tail end, hinting at its excellent driving performance. The large opening front grille, door mirrors, and outer door handles also contribute to the CR-Z's distinctive design.

LEDs are used for the lighting, with a crystal-inspired design that evokes a clean and futuristic atmosphere.

The interior design also rigorously pursues advanced and functional elements. By concentrating controls for essential driving functions, visibility and operability are enhanced. The crystal blue illumination creates a sense of the future.

In terms of space, while it is a 4-seater, the rear seats should be considered auxiliary. However, even with the rear seats in use, the luggage space is 214 liters. Folding down the rear seats expands the capacity to 328 liters, allowing for the storage of two golf bags.

The CR-Z also features integrated control of the powertrain, electric power steering, and air conditioning, enabling three drive modes: "Sport Mode" for powerful driving and responsive handling with a single touch; "Normal Mode" for a balance of driving performance and fuel economy; and "Econ Mode" prioritizing fuel efficiency.
