New Hybrid System Also Under Development
Currently, Honda offers two hybrid models: the "Insight" and the "Civic Hybrid." However, influenced by the strong sales of the Insight, the company is moving quickly to expand its lineup of small hybrid models.
Furthermore, the hybrid model of the "Fit" is expected to be priced more affordably than the Insight, which will undoubtedly draw the attention of an even wider range of customers to hybrids.
The system to be installed is Honda's proprietary IMA (Integrated Motor Assist), which pursues small size, light weight, and high efficiency, the same as in the "Civic Hybrid" and "Insight."
While plans are in place to deploy hybrid technology in the compact car segment for the time being, a new hybrid system is reportedly under development with an eye toward installation in mid-size and large vehicles.
Honda's challenge has begun: to offer products with excellent environmental performance more accessibly, to more users than ever before.
