The First Model Symbolizing the Next Generation of Lexus

First introduced in 2014, the NX has been a popular model, with cumulative sales of approximately 1 million units in over 90 countries and regions as of the end of April 2021. The completely redesigned new model, with a development concept of "Vital x Tech Gear" that fuses vital dynamism with advanced technology, represents the dawn of the next generation of Lexus, featuring a complete overhaul of its driving performance, design, and advanced technologies.
The body dimensions are 4,660mm in length (+20mm vs. previous model), 1,865mm in width (+20mm), 1,640mm in height (+5mm), and a wheelbase of 2,690mm (+30mm). The platform is an improved version of the GA-K, and its lighter weight, higher rigidity, and lower center of gravity have significantly enhanced the vehicle's fundamental performance, enabling it to respond faithfully to the driver's intentions.
Based on the "Lexus Electrified" vision announced in 2019, the powertrain lineup introduces Lexus' first PHEV. A key feature is the introduction of six powertrain options, including this one.
• 2.5L PHEV E-Four ("A25A-FXS" engine + THS II Plug-in + rear motor): Lexus' first PHEV, with variable front-to-rear drive force distribution (E-Four) between 100:0 and 20:80.
• 2.5L HEV E-Four ("A25A-FXS" engine + THS II + rear motor)
• 2.5L HEV FF ("A25A-FXS" engine + THS II): The HEV model also combines a highly efficient 2.5-liter inline-4 engine with a high-output motor, achieving an excellent balance of acceleration performance and fuel economy through dedicated control logic. E-Four offers variable front-to-rear drive force distribution between 100:0 and 20:80.
• 2.4L-T AWD ("T24A-FTS" engine + Direct Shift-8AT + electronically controlled full-time AWD)
Features a newly developed 2.4-liter inline-4 turbo engine, a newly developed high-torque Direct Shift-8AT, and a newly developed electronically controlled full-time AWD. Front-to-rear drive force distribution is constantly variable between 75:25 and 50:50 depending on the driving conditions.
• 2.5L AWD ("A25A-FKS" engine + Direct Shift-8AT + electronically controlled standby AWD): Features a highly efficient 2.5-liter inline-4 engine and Direct Shift-8AT. Front-to-rear drive force distribution is variable between 100:0 and 50:50.
• 2.5L FF ("A25A-FKS" engine + Direct Shift-8AT)
The newly developed suspension features MacPherson struts at the front and trailing arm double wishbones at the rear. The steering system adopts Lexus' first variable rack gear, achieving both stability at high speeds and quick response during cornering. For the brakes, the PHEV and HEV models newly incorporate a pedal return damping mechanism for improved dynamic feel during pedal release.
Furthermore, to enhance quietness at high speeds, newly developed opening weatherstrips and front door glass run shapes, along with improved door sealing, have been implemented. The front door glass uses a high-sound insulation type. The engine hood also features a newly adopted twin-lock structure, which suppresses vibrations caused by airflow and further improves quietness.
