Mercedes-Benz CLE Gains High-Performance and Cabriolet Models
Mercedes-Benz's Sole Open-Top Model
The CLE Cabriolet, Mercedes-Benz's only convertible, also seats four passengers like the coupe. It is designed for comfortable open-air driving even in cooler temperatures, featuring an AirCap system (wind deflector above the windshield and draft stop behind the rear seats to reduce cabin turbulence) and Airscarf neck warmers.
The soft top can be opened or closed in under 20 seconds at speeds up to 60 km/h with the touch of a button. For safety, it features two independent head airbags for rear occupants and protects occupants with Pre-Safe functions and airbags to mitigate collision impact.
The powertrain is a 2.0-liter inline-four turbo engine, similar to the CLE Coupe, producing a maximum output of 150 kW (204 hp) and 320 Nm of torque. The mild-hybrid ISG provides an additional boost of up to 17 kW (23 hp) and 205 Nm. The transmission is a 9-speed automatic.
The exterior features a three-dimensional star-patterned front grille and LED headlights. The interior is equipped with front seats developed exclusively for the CLE. Furthermore, optional leather seats feature a special coating that reflects solar infrared rays, preventing excessive heat buildup in the summer.
Additionally, the central media display has an electric adjustment function for its tilt angle to prevent glare from sunlight reflecting off the screen when the soft top is open, offering features unique to an open-top model.
Both the "CLE 200 Cabriolet Sport" and the "Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe" are equipped with the third-generation MBUX system, which offers features like routine functions and predictive suggestions to reduce the driver's operational burden.
The "Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe" is priced at 12.9 million yen, with a choice of left or right-hand drive. The "CLE 200 Cabriolet Sport" is priced at 9.36 million yen and is available only in right-hand drive.
