Jaguar's flagship saloon, the "XJ," will transition to its 2014 model year with updates to its features and equipment. The 2014 model year XJ has been announced in the UK. TheLUXURY2-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, also found in the "XJ," now incorporates the Start/Stop system, making idle-stop a standard feature across all models. Additionally, for models equipped with the 3-liter supercharged V6 engine, afull-time 4WD modelhas been added. These updates enhance the lineup and provide mechanical improvements.

Furthermore, the long-wheelbase models (designated as "SUPERSPORT" in Japan) feature revised rear seats for improved spaciousness and comfort, along with an upgraded entertainment system.

The reclining rear seats in the long-wheelbase model, reminiscent of an aircraft's executive class, offer an expanded range of motion and incorporate a three-program massage function. A fold-out leather-bound business table, designed to complement the interior, is also provided. To further enhance rear-seat comfort, the rear suspension has been retuned. Headroom has been increased by 13mm in all markets except North America.

Additionally, the back of each front seat is equipped with a large, high-resolution 10.2-inch touchscreen monitor. This system supports DVD playback and digital TV reception, and can also play music from external media players via USB or RCA connections.

These AV systems can be independently controlled for each of the left and right rear seats via switches located in the newly designed center armrest. This allows occupants to enjoy their preferred entertainment sources through wireless headphones.

For audiophiles, an optional Meridian Reference Audio System can be selected, featuring a 2.5cm tweeter and two 8cm speakers integrated into the back of each front seat, further enhancing the sound experience.

While visual changes are minimal, the adoption of the Start/Stop system across all models, the addition of a 4WD variant, and the improvements in cabin comfort represent functional and substantial updates that prioritize the user experience.
