High-Powered "GT220" Arrives for the Megane Estate | Renault

A 2-liter Turbo Model Appears for the Renault Megane Estate



Until now in Japan,GT Linethe Megane Estate was offered in a single grade, the "GT Line." Now, a high-performance version equipped with a turbo engine producing a maximum output of 220ps has arrived and goes on sale.

The High-Performance Version Finally Arrives



The Renault "Megane" is available in three body styles: coupe, hatchback, and the wagon-bodied Estate. In Japan, the coupe was the "Megane RS", while the hatchback and Estate were each offered in a single grade, "GT Line." However, this time, the Estate is being joined by the high-performance version that was released in its home market last year,the "GT220"which is now being added.

As before, development and manufacturing are handled by RenaultSport, Renault's racing vehicle and development division. The engine is a 2-liter twin-scroll turbo engine of the same type used in the Megane RS, retuned to suit the Estate. It produces a maximum output of 220ps at 5,500rpm and a maximum torque of 340Nm at 2,400rpm. This is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The "R.S. Monitor," also found in the Megane RS, is installed in the center of the dashboard. It can display turbo boost pressure, throttle opening, power output, torque, and more, creating a sporty atmosphere.

Five exterior colors are available. The front fog lamp mask, electric folding door mirrors, roof rails, black diffuser, and dedicated 18-inch aluminum wheels are all unified in black, creating a sharp appearance. The interior color scheme is also based on dark carbon.

The release date is May 16th. It is available only in right-hand drive, with a price of 3.19 million yen.
