Now Equipped to Power Homes
The Toyota Prius PHV has been refreshed, changing from its previous four-seater configuration to a five-seater.
Additionally, it now features a "V2H" system that supplies electricity from the car's battery to a home, allowing it to function as a backup power source during power outages caused by disasters or other events.
Specifically, an external power supply function (V2H) can be optionally added to the quick charging inlet. When connected to a separately sold V2H device, the electricity stored in the Prius PHV's drive battery can be used as household power.
Simultaneously, surplus electricity generated by household solar power systems can be stored in the vehicle's drive battery, which is expected to help balance electricity demand.
Furthermore, safety features have been enhanced. A Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which detects approaching vehicles from the rear sides when reversing out of a parking space and provides a warning, and a "Panoramic View Monitor" that displays a bird's-eye view of the vehicle on the navigation screen have been newly added.
Moreover, the DCM (Data Communication Module), a dedicated communication device, is now standard on all models, enabling access to various connected services such as "e-Care Service" for remote driving advice and vehicle diagnostics, and the "LINE My Car Account."
The price of the new Toyota Prius PHV ranges from 3,178,440 yen to 4,266,000 yen. These improvements have also been applied to the "Welcab" welfare vehicle series, which is priced from 3,353,400 yen to 3,833,160 yen.
