A Four-Seater, Streamlined, One-Motion Style
"The Lagonda Vision Concept features an extremely bold design," says Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer.
As an electric vehicle that does not require a large internal combustion engine, gearbox, or transmission, and with the battery installed in the vehicle's floor, the designers at Lagonda were able to approach the design by first optimizing the interior down to the last detail, and then building the exterior around it. As a result, the interior offers space for four adults to relax in comfort and luxury, and the car's shape that envelops it is a low, short, and elegant one-motion style with a streamlined form.
Furthermore, since the floor bears most of the structural strength, larger openings than conventional vehicles are realized. The rear doors, hinged at the rear, open outwards simultaneously with the roof section lifting up, ensuring smooth entry and exit.
The front seats employ cantilevered arms extending from the outside of the frame, creating a clean floor. The interior is characterized by the use of unprecedented materials, such as silk carpets by British furniture designer David Linley and hand-woven wool upholstery by Savile Row tailor Henry Poole & Co.
The Lagonda Vision Concept's powertrain is designed to be powered by solid-state batteries. It also supports wireless charging, with a range of up to 400 miles on a single charge. It employs a four-wheel-drive system, allowing for the distribution of available torque to any wheel between 0 and 100 percent.
The vehicle is designed for Level 4 autonomous driving, enabling fully autonomous travel on everyday routes and recognizable roads. The steering wheel can be moved left or right as needed, or retracted during autonomous driving, allowing the front seats to be rotated 180 degrees to converse with rear passengers. Constant internet connectivity provides 24-hour access to a dedicated concierge service.
This Vision Concept is presented as a study model for a production Lagonda model to be launched in 2021. Furthermore, the "Coupe Concept" and "SUV Concept," displayed as 40 percent scale models, will be applied to models released in 2023.
