N°001 Minami Aoyama: Japan's first luxury residence, embodying Aston Martin's aesthetic.

N°001 Minami Aoyama

Aston Martin's first luxury residence in Japan, "N°001 Minami Aoyama," has been completed in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo. This project is the first in Asia, realized through a partnership with VIBROA, a leader in Japan's high-end real estate development.

A Delicate Interplay of Light, Material, and Subterranean Space

This residence is part of Aston Martin's special residential development program, following "Aston Martin Residences" in Miami and "The Astera, Interiors by Aston Martin" in Ras Al Khaimah.
"N°001 Minami Aoyama," the first residence in Asia, was realized through close collaboration between VIBROA and Aston Martin's design team, led by Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman, infusing the living spaces with craftsmanship, innovation, and a passion for beautiful design.
With a total floor area of 724 square meters (7,793 sq ft), the residence comprises three above-ground floors and one basement level, designed to evoke a sense of tranquility away from the urban bustle. It is a space crafted for those with urban sensibilities and a sophisticated aesthetic.
The exterior features vertical louvers that create shifting light reflections throughout the day, adding dynamism and privacy. A spa terrace on the second floor, with its undulating mirrored ceiling and lush planting, offers a unique spatial experience where interior and exterior seamlessly blend.
Particularly striking is the automotive gallery on the ground floor. This exhibition space includes two rare indoor parking spots, presenting vehicles as if they were sculptural works of art.
The site's natural slope inspired VIBROA to excavate a substantial subterranean space. This area houses a gym, wine cellar, dedicated zones for a golf simulator and private spa, and three en-suite bedrooms.
The spa facilities on the second floor feature a sauna and spa bath clad in natural hinoki wood, integrated with a custom-designed audio system. This refined sanctuary is complemented by a landscaped private terrace, complete with an open-air onsen pool and an outdoor seating area.
Throughout the residence, meticulous attention has been paid to light, views, and spatial flow. The journey towards the rooftop terrace is designed to symbolize a progression from darker to lighter tones, guiding one towards the light.
The uppermost level boasts a magnificent terrace with entertainment facilities, a kitchen, panoramic sunset views, and a partially green roof, offering a vantage point from which to admire Tokyo Tower.
Adding to the dynamic movement within the residence is a striking spiral staircase, its form reminiscent of origami. Crafted from folded steel, this staircase connects the subterranean levels to the floors above, adjacent to an indoor garden and illuminated by a custom-designed pendant chandelier.
An aesthetic sensibility akin to that found in Aston Martin's vehicles permeates every aspect, from architectural design and material selection to furnishings. This dedication is further evident in the inclusion of the Bowers & Wilkins audio system, a signature feature in Aston Martin cars, within the residence.
The interiors feature bespoke wardrobes and kitchen cabinets from the iconic Italian brand Molteni&C, alongside a curated selection of premium Italian furnishings.
The kitchen is appointed with a black lava stone countertop and grey oak cabinetry, with details in nebula steel and pewter metal. Many of the unique furnishings were custom-made under Aston Martin's direct supervision.
Marek Reichman of Aston Martin commented on the project:
"Throughout the design and construction, we worked closely with VIBROA to express our respect for Tokyo's culture, history, and style. Tokyo is a significant source of inspiration for our design studio, and expanding our presence in Japan and Asia fosters a fertile ground for creativity and collaboration. For Aston Martin, design is a concept that transcends automobiles; inspiration from fashion, architecture, and cuisine influences our team's creativity."
Toshiyuki Yoshida, CEO of VIBROA, added, "VIBROA is deeply honored to collaborate with an iconic ultra-luxury brand like Aston Martin. Their exceptional design philosophy and expertise will bring a new dimension not only to this residence but to the entire Japanese real estate landscape."
This project, Aston Martin's first fully bespoke private residence in Asia, also symbolizes the brand's expanding presence in the Japanese and Asian markets. It is positioned as a significant step following the opening of the Aston Martin Ginza showroom within The Peninsula Tokyo in Spring 2024.
"N°001 Minami Aoyama" establishes Aston Martin's position as a comprehensive luxury brand beyond automobiles in Japan. This residence, a masterful fusion of British heritage craftsmanship and contemporary luxury, is poised to captivate the discerning.
