What is the essence of the DBX 707? A Test Drive Reveals.

The DBX707 debuted as Aston Martin's first high-performance SUV, the DBX V8. We test-drove this luxury SUV, boasting 707 horsepower as its name suggests, based in Niseko, Hokkaido.

More Powerful Than Urus or Cayenne

Aston Martin introduced the DBX V8, the brand's first SUV, in 2019. As you know, it garnered global attention for its styling and driving dynamics, which defied expectations for an SUV from the esteemed British sports car marque.

Three years later, in 2022, Aston Martin introduced the "DBX 707" with even greater performance. As the company claims it is "the fastest, most powerful, and best-handling SUV in the world," it boasts a maximum output of 707 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque, surpassing even the Lamborghini Urus S (666 hp) and Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid (739 hp).
We had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of this "ultra" high-performance SUV. The car's media touring event was held based in Niseko, Hokkaido.
Niseko, renowned worldwide as Japan's premier mountain resort, attracts tourists from across the globe. The test drive venue was the luxury resort "Park Hyatt Niseko HANAZONO," located at the foot of the majestic Mt. Niseko-Annupuri in the Hanazono area.

At the hotel's porte-cochère, the DBX707 presented a more aggressive aura compared to its base model, the DBX V8.
The front fascia features an enlarged version of the iconic grille, first used in the 1949 DB2 (prototype), to channel more air to the uprated engine. The brake cooling ducts have also been expanded to accommodate the enhanced braking system. The low-profile front splitter and side sills are finished in gloss black, creating a flowing, integrated look from front to side.

The rear end, designed for both aesthetics and aerodynamics, features a new lip spoiler on the roof wing and enlarged twin rear diffusers. Combined with the quad-exit exhaust system, this accentuates a sportier image.
Nevertheless, perhaps due to its sleek coupe-like silhouette reminiscent of the DB series, the overall impression is exceptionally elegant, harmonizing beautifully with the luxury resort's modern facade, primarily in wood tones and black.

The body dimensions—5,039mm in length and 1,998mm in width—are comparable to large SUVs like the Defender 110 or Land Cruiser 300. However, thanks to its taut form and large 23-inch wheels, it appears more compact than its actual size.
