Aston Martin unveils the Valhalla hypercar in Japan, boasting 1,079ps.

Aston Martin Valhalla

Aston Martin has unveiled the final prototype of its mid-engined plug-in hybrid (PHEV) hypercar, the Valhalla, to the press at Aston Martin Aoyama House. Limited to 999 units worldwide and priced at ¥128.9 million, what is the full picture of this hypercar?

Aston Martin's First Mid-Engined, PHEV Production Model

The Valhalla, which Aston Martin touts as the "ultimate driver's supercar," has finally revealed its form.
The first thing that catches the eye is the styling, which incorporates a new design language and features distinctive dihedral doors that open upwards.
Through close collaboration with Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the consulting division of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 team, the car expresses supercar performance through new forms and proportions.
The interior also boasts a clean, minimalist design. Heavily influenced by F1, it features integrated carbon fiber seats and a carbon fiber steering wheel, creating a space that allows the driver and passenger to immerse themselves in the driving experience.
The powertrain is a first for Aston Martin's production models: a mid-ship layout, a PHEV system, and the ability to drive in EV-only mode. Furthermore, the Valhalla debuts a newly developed 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 engine.
The 4.0-liter V8 engine produces 828 ps, supplemented by three electric motors delivering 231 ps, for a combined system output of 1,079 ps and 1,100 Nm of torque. It is paired with a newly developed 8-speed DCT transmission, achieving 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h before the electronic limiter engages.
Two of the electric motors are mounted on the front axle, while the third is integrated into the transmission to drive the rear axle. The motors boost performance and response, and enable an EV-only range of up to 14 km at a maximum speed of 140 km/h.
Downforce can reach over 600 kg, a figure informed by insights gained from the Valkyrie hypercar, launched in 2021. Maximum downforce is maintained from 240 km/h up to the top speed of 350 km/h.
There are four drive modes: Pure EV mode for silent starts, Sport mode with the V8 engine engaged, Sport Plus mode for enjoying the thrill of a hybrid supercar on public roads, and Race mode, designed with circuit driving in mind.
In Race mode, the rear T-wing is raised by 255 mm via hydraulic rams, altering the car's stance to generate maximum downforce.
Concealed in front of the front axle is an active front wing that works in conjunction with the active rear wing, playing a crucial role in aerodynamic control.
The chassis also leverages F1-derived technology, constructed primarily from carbon fiber. This contributes to a dry weight of 1,655 kg, achieving a power-to-weight ratio of 652 PS per 1,000 kg.
The Valhalla, infused with F1 expertise, is limited to 999 units worldwide. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late 2025, with a price tag of ¥128.9 million.
