The Estate Model is Finally Here
In Japan, the Renault Mégane is known for holding the world's fastest record for a production FF car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife,Mégane R.S.and for its high-spec wagon body limited editions,Estate GTand special limited editions in Red Bull Racing colors,Special Limited Modelamong other sporty models, the memories of which are still fresh.
The Mégane is now being updated, with Renault narrowing the regular model lineup in Japan to just the "GT Line" and simultaneously transitioning to the minorly updated version, which goes on sale from December 6th. Changes from the previous "GT Line" are few. Exterior changes include the adoption of LED position lamps and body-colored side protection moldings. Interior changes are the addition of a red-lined finish on the dashboard and a new red-stitched leather steering wheel with tilt and telescopic functions.
The most anticipated aspect of this Mégane update is likely the introduction of the "Estate" to Japan, a wagon body that is 6 cm longer in wheelbase and 24 cm longer in overall length than the hatchback.
Full model change to the third generation in 2008Since then, the only wagon body model handled in Japan has been the aforementioned limited edition "Estate GT." This "Estate GT" was exclusively left-hand drive with a manual transmission.
This time, along with the hatchback model, a right-hand drive CVT model will finally be imported as a regular model. The engine is a 2-liter inline 4-cylinder engine (maximum output 140 ps, maximum torque 195 Nm). Unlike the previous "Premium Line" (now discontinued), the "GT Line" continues to have its chassis handled by Renault's motorsport division, "Renault Sport."
The price for the "Mégane Estate GT Line" is 2.78 million yen, and the "Mégane Hatchback GT Line" is 2.68 million yen.
