According to the announcement, the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY will be a one-make race series featuring racing cars based on the "I-PACE" production EV, scheduled for sale in 2018, and is said to be the world's first international championship using a production EV.

The races are scheduled to be held as support races for the 2018/19 Formula E season, with a total of 10 events in major cities worldwide, including Hong Kong, Paris, Rome, New York, and São Paulo. Up to 20 participants, including different VIP drivers at each venue, will compete on the same circuits as Formula E.

Participants will be offered a full "Arrive and Drive" package by Jaguar Racing, which includes comprehensive support such as "technical support from expert staff for race car preparation and data engineering," "logistics for vehicles, spare parts, and equipment," "tires and consumables," "garage infrastructure for race weekends," "championship promotion and marketing activities," "race suits for each driver," "hospitality for participants and the option to purchase reserved seating for sponsors and guests," and "championship television broadcasting."

The race format will consist of free practice, qualifying, and a 30-minute final race.

Jaguar Racing Chairman Gerd Mauser stated, "In 2016, Jaguar returned to racing with the mission of 'Race to Innovate.' The launch of the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY strengthens our commitment to EVs, international motorsport, and Formula E, and will advance future electric vehicle technology through racing, bringing benefits to customers as well." He also described it as a stepping stone for young drivers into Formula E, where Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche have announced their participation.

Formula E founder and CEO Alejandro Agag commented, "We welcome the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY, which, in addition to the participation of Panasonic Jaguar Racing in Formula E, promises to be an exciting event for fans. If Jaguar allows, I'd love to compete myself with my own racing suit and helmet."

Technical specifications, pricing, and the race schedule for the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY racing car are expected to be announced in 2018.
